A small bubble in the paint can hide corrosion underneath. Before winter, take a closer look at wheel arches, door edges and other areas where paint is chipped or lifting.
Photograph the affected area
Take clear pictures in daylight, including the surrounding panel. Avoid covering the spot with paint before an assessment, because the visible condition helps explain what work may be needed.
Understand what a cosmetic repair can do
Suitable work may include removing affected material, treating the area, preparing the surface and refinishing. Corrosion can extend behind panels, so the final scope depends on inspection. A repair cannot guarantee that rust will never return.
When specialist assessment is needed
Holes, extensive deterioration or suspected structural corrosion need a closer assessment. Send photos first so we can discuss whether the job is suitable for our mobile bodywork service.
Surface damage and deeper corrosion are different jobs
A photograph can show bubbling paint or a discoloured area, but it does not show how far corrosion extends inside a panel. The visible spot may be only part of the affected area. For that reason, a photo discussion is the beginning of an assessment rather than a promise about the finished scope.
Prepare a useful rust enquiry
- Photograph the whole panel and the damaged area in daylight.
- Include an angled view of lifting paint, edges or seams.
- Tell us if the area has been repaired or painted before.
- Include your vehicle details and city.
Tell us about previous repairs even if they were done by another business. That history helps explain what may be underneath the finish.
Set realistic expectations
Ask which areas the repair will cover, what preparation is proposed and what limitations apply. Cosmetic treatment is different from structural repair or whole-vehicle corrosion protection. We assess whether your bodywork falls within our mobile service.
Common questions
Can you promise rust will never return?
No. Corrosion can remain or develop in places that are not accessible during a local repair.
Should I send photos even if I am unsure the job is suitable?
Yes. A wider view and close-ups help us discuss the visible damage and whether further assessment is needed.
